Terms of Use

1. What this is

FH Room Checker (the “Service”) shows which rooms at FH JOANNEUM appear to be free or in use, based on the university’s published timetable. It is a non-commercial student project developed and operated by Seymur Mammadov, with a design contribution by Jakob Schnurrer, provided free of charge, with no advertising and no revenue. By using the Service you accept these terms.

2. Not an official university service

The Service is not currently operated, supervised, commissioned, or endorsed by FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH, and the university is not responsible for it. FH JOANNEUM has permitted use of its timetable interface and has discussed possible future adoption of the app. Please direct questions about the current Service to me, not to the university. See the Imprint.

3. The information may be wrong

This is the most important thing on this page. The Service reads an external timetable feed and calculates free periods from it. That information can be incomplete, delayed, or simply incorrect — for example when a class is moved or cancelled at short notice, when a room is booked outside the timetable system, when the feed itself is wrong, or when the app's sync has not yet run.

A room shown as free may be occupied, and a room shown as busy may be empty. Do not rely on the Service for anything that matters. Always check on site, and respect any signage, booking, or instruction from university staff. Staff decisions take precedence over anything this app displays.

4. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied — including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted operation. I may change, suspend, or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and without notice.

5. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, I accept no liability for any loss or inconvenience arising from use of, or reliance on, the Service — including wasted journeys, missed study time, or a room turning out to be unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, in particular for personal injury or for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.

6. How you may use it

Use the Service for its intended purpose: finding a room. Please do not attempt to disrupt or overload it, bypass its technical limits, extract its data in bulk by automated means, or use it in a way that interferes with other people’s use. I may restrict access where this is necessary to keep the Service running.

7. Feedback you send

Feedback is voluntary. Please don’t include sensitive personal information in it. I may use your suggestions to improve the Service without any obligation or payment to you. How I handle feedback is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Third-party rights

Timetable information originates from FH JOANNEUM and remains subject to the university’s rights. “FH JOANNEUM” and related names, logos, and marks belong to FH JOANNEUM Gesellschaft mbH and are used here descriptively only. If a rights holder objects to any content shown, contact me at mseymur2k@gmail.com and I will address it promptly.

9. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms as the Service develops. The version in force is the one published here, identified by the date above. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and any provision that would deprive a consumer of the protection of mandatory law in their country of residence.
