Accessibility Statement

We want FH Room Checker to be usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the standard referenced by the EU Web Accessibility Directive (2016/2102) and EN 301 549.

Compliance status

FH Room Checker is partially compliant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. A manual review of the app on 29 June 2026 examined the 50 Level A and AA success criteria that apply to it: 38 pass, five are partially met (listed below), and there were no outright failures. None of the open items prevents finding or viewing rooms with a keyboard or a screen reader.

Non-accessible content

We know about the following and intend to fix them:

  • The overview page has no top-level heading. The room overview starts at second-level headings (“Available”, “Busy”), so screen-reader users get no single heading naming the page. (1.3.1 Info & Relationships (A), 2.4.6 Headings & Labels (AA))
  • Low-contrast text on the red header. The search placeholder and the “Now · time” hint use white at 80% opacity over the red gradient, giving roughly 3.7:1 against the lighter end — below the 4.5:1 minimum for normal text. (1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (AA))
  • No “skip to main content” link. Keyboard users cannot jump past the repeated header and footer to reach the main content directly. (2.4.1 Bypass Blocks (A))
  • Several pages share one generic browser title. The Welcome, Feedback and room-schedule views all inherit the title “FH Room Checker”, so the title does not describe the current view. (2.4.2 Page Titled (A))
  • External links open in a new tab without warning. Footer links to the developers’ sites and “Learn more” open a new tab without announcing that they will. (3.2.5 Change on Request (AAA); best practice under 2.4.4)

Measures we take

The app is built with semantic HTML, labelled form controls, keyboard-operable controls, visible focus states, status messages announced to assistive technology, reduced-motion support, and a light/dark theme for contrast preferences. Its non-modal analytics choice does not block the content or keyboard navigation. Accessibility is considered when features are added or changed.

Feedback & contact

If you hit an accessibility barrier — including anything not listed above — please tell us at mseymur2k@gmail.com or through the feedback form. We aim to reply within 10 working days and to give you the information you need in a form you can use.

Enforcement procedure

This statement is published voluntarily. FH Room Checker is a private student project, not a public-sector body, and is expected to be outside the Austrian Web Accessibility Act (WZG). The Accessibility Act (BaFG) also exempts microenterprises that provide services. Other Austrian anti-discrimination rules can still apply. This page does not offer the statutory WZG enforcement procedure; if I have not resolved a barrier you reported, please write again and I will treat it as a priority.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 8 September 2026 based on a manual self-assessment of the app carried out on 29 June 2026, updated to reflect replacement of the old modal consent banner with a non-modal optional-analytics choice. I review it whenever the Service changes materially. See also our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Imprint.
